Our trip to Balaton

We stayed in a little town called Balatonfenyves. It was awesome! We stayed in this house.

The
owners of this house rent it out as 4 apartments. You can see the 4
balconies. Each one has 2 bedrooms, a kitchen, bathroom, living room
and the balcony. It was so nice to stay there. It felt like our
own apartment. It was only a 10 minute walk to the lake. So we
would go to the lake during the day and come back at night. We
(meaning András) would cook dinner, (I would set the table or pour the
drinks, a very important task!) We would sit out on the balcony and
eat dinner and have drinks until it was time to go bed and start all over
the next day.
Although, our first night there, I had brought some Stoli Raspberry Vodka and we bought some ginger ale and we proceeded to drink, drink, drink. We finished the bottle. (Never a good sign!) I pretty much don't remember the end of the night. But apparently András |
and I shared some beer and he went inside for a minute and when he came out, there was no beer and no Sharon. I had passed out right there on the bottom left balcony. Luckily when I was not feeling well, I told András that I was going to be sick in Hungarian so there was no confusion. And of course, when I woke up in the morning, I swore that I would NEVER drink again. So, if you ever hear us say "balaton drinky", now you will understand.
Here are some more pictures of the place we stayed. First is the kitchen, next the fireplace in the living room and last is the street that we stayed on.

I should tell you about the lake. First it's very shallow. It's only about 2-3 feet deep. So, even when you walk out far from the shore, it's still shallow. So, lots of kids and families. Also, it seems to be a tops optional kind of place. It was a really beautiful place and the water was nice and warm. It was a lot of fun.
On our last day, when the landlord came to collect the money he took some pictures of us.

We packed up the car and headed back for Hódmezövásárhely. Right before we hit Csongrad we stopped for a bathroom break and took pictures with the statue in front of the restaurant.
